Jim Durow has been carving birds since 1974 and has always appreciated the beauty of Nature and Birds. He started carving along side his father who taught Jim much about the art of Bird Carving. The father and son team carved over 25 different species of birds together before Jim started working as a solo Artist. His passion and love for the art brought out the natural ability for him to carve beautiful and incredibly realistic birds as works of art.

Jim went on to create Wooden Feather Carving Studio in 1987.  He became known for his ultra realistic original designs of hand carved birds. Jim has won numerous competitions including the G.M. (General Motors) Award of Excellence.  He is considered one of the top Bird Carving Artists in the United States. His work can be found in galleries and private collections around the world.
 
Jim now works exclusively in his Custom Shop on commission creating in collaboration with the customer, a unique one of a kind, custom bird carving which has become known as  "Avian Artistry".
 
Jim's unique ability to carve blocks of wood and bring "life" into the birds he carves has created a great demand for his work. The quality, detail, realism and artistry is unsurpassed.
